Thanks for the read and comment, but I find it hard to defend the video. I don't doubt Bilson's acting skills or self-deprecating humor or the willingness to put herself out there, but rather the creative process that led to the creation of the piece. I think it's just disappointing that a rap (or any music) parody is now the go-to for instant comedy. I'm sure they had a blast making it, but just because she swears and acts like a wannabe gangsta doesn't make the video inherently humorous.

I disagree. Anyone who watched the OC, which was a lot of people, will find this funny. It walks a fine line of making fun of herself and proving her acting skills. Does it rise to the brilliance of natalie's rap, no not even close. Having said that just because it's not comedic gold I will go out on a limb and say it's comedic bronze.

Just got into 'David Comes to Life." I dig the singer's intensity but the songs would be so much more diesel if they had some semblance of a vocal melody.

Not a particular exciting year for music in my mind, but here are some pretty good albums I've enjoyed this year in no order. I don't think I've paid much attention to everything out there to give a fair judgment on the best.

Parallel Bars - Grow Up And Get Over It
Beirut - The Rip Tide
Neon Indian - Era Extrana
Cobra Skulls - Agitations
Fucked Up - David Comes To Life
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes - Sing In Japanese

You may be right in that I was too easy on Hot Chelle. It's just so baffling. He actually says "Even the white kids" in the outro attempt to "keep the beat bumpin"...it's like some unheard form of reverse racism. We're all doomed.

I agree....What pisses me off now is the fact that you get radio stations that bleep out the word "ass" but then will play songs by Kanye West where he's talking about a girl giving him head with shades on. My 11 year old asked me what that meant! I mean, really?! Do I need to explain to my kids what giving head is to 11 years old?! And then there's this song by T-Pain ft Lily Allen and he's saying it's 5 o'clock in the morning and your feeling so horny...Again, wtf do you say to your kids? I rather my kids know what an ass is than a song talking about sticking something in someone's ass
